RULES FOR FISHING by Terry Stewart
One of the favorite pastimes enjoyed by
many residents of Waterview is fishing in our lake and pond. Along with this privilege come the rules set
by Valencia County Water Authority, who own and maintain these waterways.
There is a strict policy of "catch and
release" pertaining to all fish
caught in Waterview Reserve. The water
authority has stocked our lakes, and other lakes nearby, with certain types of
fish that suppress aquatic weeds and maintain lake preservation. Specially bred fish that are sterile were
used to limit over-population and the problems that arise from having too many
fish in a given area. Some of the fish
were tagged when the lake was stocked in order to monitor their growth and
travel habits. It would be very sad if
the large bass population, along with the maintenance fish, were depleted from
our lake and pond.
All residents must abide by the "catch and release" rules set by Valencia County
Water Authority. We all should take
responsibility to report to our Association Management Company, (Hara
Management, c/o Lorie - 407-628-1086) any violators of these rules,
especially anyone catching and keeping
fish from our lake or pond. If we as
residents do not enforce this policy, then we can expect Valencia County Water
Authority to enact a "no fishing" policy on our lake and pond!
If we all follow the rules, we will
maintain the population of fish in our waters and continue to enjoy a favorite
pastime for all ages, young and old.
